Trains
How do trains in Regina always seem to know when I’m in a hurry to get somewhere? And isn’t there a time limit on how long they can block traffic in the city? 20-30 minutes seems unreasonable!
So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the...

Thinking About Thoughts
What keeps me from getting what I want? Why do I seem to keep reliving the same old problems again and again? How do I create some balance and happiness in my life? These are all questions that I asked myself for many years. You too? Over time, I’ve discovered a couple of simple practices that helped me to answer some of my questions and grow as a person. One of the first things I learned...
Rejection
Fear of rejection is probably the single biggest reason that people fail to get the things that they want. It stops people from asking for help, guidance, money, support, a date, a raise, the sale, the promotion, and advice. The mere thought of asking for what they want can paralyze some people. A movie immediately starts running in their head. “How embarrassing it will be to get turned...

Christmas Gift Suggestions
“Christmas gift suggestions: To your enemy, forgiveness. To an opponent, tolerance. To a friend, your heart. To a customer, service. …To all, charity. To every child, a good example. To yourself, respect.”

Arrogance
What is arrogance from most people’s perspective? I’ve been called that lots so I can speak to it I think…haha.
In my mind, nothing more than fear and a paradox of doing work that’s important.
A fear because many of us are raised to avoid appearing arrogant. Being called arrogant is a terrible slur, it means that you’re not only a failure, but a poser as well.

Happy Easter
The Easter weekend is one of my favourite times of the year because for me, it represents renewal. New beginnings, fresh starts, exciting journeys. It’s very fitting that it occurs in April, when new life is vibrantly emerging from the depths of winter. Don’t you just love the smell of the air in early spring? If I had to think of one word to describe it, I’d probably say...

Original Thinking
I’ve always considered myself to be a person who thinks creatively, but sometimes I get thinking about how much of my thought is recycled. Most people basically think the same thoughts over and over, and then call them “opinions” or “points of view” or “beliefs.” Do you know what I mean? I’m no different, but I’m aware of it. I know that I must...
The Facts
I was thinking a lot about a conversation I was having with a guy last weekend. We got on the subject of genetically modified fruits and vegetables (he was eating an organic tomato at the time - that’s how we got on that). Anyway, it’s not so much the content of the discussion that I was thinking about, it was his assertion that “facts are facts.” I disagreed and said that...

People in Boxes
After work Fridays can be so great sometimes. The whistle blows and people head to their favorite watering hole for drink and maybe some food, but most of all they meet up for some conversation and some laughter. Every so often the conversation can be enlightening, but it’s usually always warm and friendly.
I had one of those warm and friendly chats with an old buddy from my Calgary days...
